Datang is an important economic town in Zhuji City, ranking among the top 100 in China and the top 10 in Zhejiang Province in terms of comprehensive strength. It is an economic town characterized by production, design and sales of socks and is known as "the hometown of Chinese socks industry", "the international socks capital" and "the famous town of Chinese socks".

Datang Town was established in 1988. It is located in the central and western part of Zhuji. It covers an area of 53.8 square kilometers, has a permanent population of 32,000 and a migrant population of 67,000.

Datang Town is thriving because of socks. Datang is the world's largest sock production base, with a complete industrial chain from raw materials, machinery, hosiery to dyeing and finishing, stereotyping, packaging, marketing, logistics and other processes, known as the "International Socks Capital". Up to now, the annual output of socks is 25 billion pairs, accounting for 70% of China and 30% of the world. The annual output value is 75 billion yuan. In addition, it is estimated that by the end of the year, the whole city's sock industry e-commerce can achieve a turnover of 5 billion yuan.
